Display/Keyboard January 8, 2009 HP Pavilion DV5-1160US 15.4-Inch Laptop (2.0 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo P7350 Processor, 4 GB RAM, 320 GB Hard Drive, DVD Drive, Vista Premium)
I replaced my old HP 14.1" laptop with this feature packed model and I am quite disappointed with two features, 1) the color and contrast of the keyboard, while I am a touch typist the letters on the keys are quite difficult to see. The product is a 'bronze' color and the lettering is white the contrast is quite poor.
My second gripe is the actual display, I opted for the Infinity display which I thought was a superior display but it 'aint' no better than my older model and in fact it might even be worse.
I like HP products, I own many products including two other laptops and a desktop in addition to calculators and other products but this is my first disappointment.
Great machine, BUT Vista is a little annoying. December 16, 2008 3 out of 5 found this review helpful
I've had many problems with this machine, probably because I live in the country and have SLOW dial-up internet service. Vista seems to get cranky while doing Microsoft updates and the machine hung up several times. I talked to an HP rep and she did help me, but I oftentimes must start in safe mode, then reboot to normal. Seems to act pretty well after that's done. Currently (in FL) I have high-speed internet service for the winter and am doing updates with no problem. In any case, I would recommend this machine. It's light and I love the slide controls (and web cam, though I don't use it much). The fan doesn't seem to run at all, so I'm wondering if it's a low powered, silent fan, that runs all the time. It's quiet, so I take this as a plus.
