The StarTech.com Black aluminum IDE Drive Drawer/Mobile Rack is a rugged drawer designed for heavy use and mission critical environments that require rapid heat dissipation. The bay and caddy are both made from cast aluminum to act as a heat-sink for high-speed 7200 and 10, 000 RPM drives. Two front-mounted ball-bearing fans, moving up to 10 CFM of air ensure that the drive never overheats, increasing it's life and reliability. 4 LEDs provide at-a-glance status of: power, drive activity, and the operating status of each fan. The drawer supports any IDE drive including Ultra ATA/66, ATA/100, and ATA/133 models of any size. A locking mechanism with key prevents the accidental removal of the drive when the system is operating. The drive can be hot-swapped, providing it is not a boot drive and the operating system is configured to recognize the drive as a removable drive.
