1 out of 5 stars Good spec for a PDA, but it have a touch screen problem   December 31, 2008
1 out of 1 found this review helpful

This is the first PDA I owned. I was excited as I received this product; however, I was quickly disappointed after a few days when the screen become unresponsive to the stylus. For instance, when I tried to click on the Memos icon, I get no respond or another application open instead. Another example of the problem is when I used the Note Pad, the screen make weird marks or inaccurate marks when I tried to write a letter or number.
I was in a looped with the stylus calibrating and even after the stylus become active again, a few minutes later, it becomes defected again. I tried soft reset and hard reset but it did not fixed the problem at all. Finally, I decided to go onto Palm's forum to find a way to fix it. Yet, I found out that there are many problems with other Palm's users revolving around this setback since '06 or even earlier; however, it seem that Palm's engineers/technicians are not taking much action in fixing this known situation that have many Palm's consumer unhappy and having their product refurbished, but only to have the product further defected. However, there are a few solutions that other found helpful without the help of Palm's Support, but it was not for me.
I guess this goes as a lesson for me to looked up product's problem before taking a head-dive into a total disappointment in the end.

1 out of 5 stars tx desktop doesn't work   December 26, 2008

I initially installed the tx on my Desktop PC running Windows XP. It installed and captured all of my Palm IIIxe contacts and memos. The hot sysnc worked fine. I needed to edit some of my contacts. I attemted to open the Palm desktop. I got a Windows "Palm Application Error" and the Palm desktop closed. It just keeps doing this. Then hot sync quit working. I uninstalled the software with the Palm CD and reinstalled it. No change- nothing worked. So I tried to install in on my Laptop running VISTA. What a mess. It simply would not install correctly. I tried all the tips in the Palm support site to no avail. After 6 hours I packaged the unit up and am sending it back to Amazon. To make matters worse, the Palm tx installation erased my Palm IIIxe software, and I cannot get the old software reinstalled now. So the only copy of all my contacts and memos is on my Palm IIIxe handheld unit. What a mess!!!

3 out of 5 stars mixed feelings   December 18, 2008

I have mixed feelings about the Palm T/X. I have it working perfectly now after a good deal of hacking. I have been using Palm ever since it originally came on the market. The apps for which Palm is known for (calendar, todos, etc.) work great. Documents To Go (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) work great. Pocket Tunes (music, FM Radio, etc.) work great. Battery life is excellent. Wifi is excellent. The screen is good.

Now for the bad things. I get the feeling that Palm doesn't want to support Palm Pilots any longer. The usb cable and connection that the Palm syncs with is not engineered very well. I couldn't get it to work. Fortunately, there are other ways to sync. The software that came with the Palm did not work with my wifes 64 bit computer even though Windows Vista was 32 bit. I read Palm does not support 64 bit and has no plans to support it in the future. I downloaded Palm Desktop from Palm and that worked. The Palm is a very good tool for managing my time and providing a good deal of entertainment, however I shouldn't have had to deal with all the initial problems.

2 out of 5 stars dissappointed nursing student   November 29, 2008

I am dissappointed with this device, I cannot close out certain programs and go Back to previous screens. It is mandatory for our BSN program and it is not compatible with our campus wireless system at all. I have dropped it in the case 3 times from my pocket to floor and kitchen table and now the sensitivity of the screen is off 1/2 inch to the left so I cannot access or command screens and applications. This was a huge investment and bigger dissapointment, it is also heavy in the case to lug around in my lab coat.

I'm loving this device.. it's amazing.. Very useful and easy to manage...

The only thing, cost one star from my rate, is my device didn't recognize my SD 4GB FlashMemory.. I bought together with palm, but it doesn't work.. It's working in my computer and digital camera... Shame...
