At your risk January 2, 2009 1 out of 6 found this review helpful
I bought this for a Christmas present. It arrived in a typical software paperboard box with the drive basically exposed in the BIG shipping box. The shipping box it was sent in was 5x bigger then the drive. No innerpak. It rattled in the box from florida to South Dakota like a marble. I wouldn't even consider using it considering all drives are somewhat fragile.Amazon has been good in the past and this was shipped out of XP passport inc. Cearwater,Florida FOR Amazon. I'll buy it elsewhere.
Nice but rugged??? December 30, 2008 0 out of 3 found this review helpful
A nice external hard drive that seems to do what it claims on the propaganda. It is an ugly little thing but the casting is nice and hard so I suppose it is rugged. If I could relive the moment when I bought this item would I make the same mistake again?? Yes, I suppose I would make that mistake again.
Ok but not great. December 30, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Good hard drive, and comfortable size. I used it for my macbook pro and is just plug and play.
The software included from LaCie is not good at all, because is a backup program without the restore option. (???)
The firewire (F400) is kind of loose and disconnects easily.
Easy setup, working in 10 minutes December 27, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Received the Lacie Rugged 320GB yesterday (12/26/08),hooked it up to the MacBook did the formatting and had it backing up my hard drive in 10 minutes. Very simple and easy to use. The only thing that could be changed is a firewire cable that is not so large in diameter. Does get a little warm when doing a backup. Fits perfect into the Case Logic Hard Drive Case.
USB connection is OK, Firewire connectivity is dodgy December 24, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought one of these "triple interface" LaCie 250 gb "Rugged" drives off Amazon. Perhaps it's just mine that's defective, but mine kept having connection problems when linked to my computer using the Firewire 800 or 400 cables provided with the disk. However, the USB connection works great. So I'd recommend getting the USB only version instead. (My computer is a G4 Powerbook running Os X 10.5.6)
